Bird Wise are getting involved with guided walks happening across North Kent from the 12th to the 16th June, to showcase the amazing wildlife that depends on our beautiful coastline at this time of year.
Walks are suitable for all the family and are particularly suited to birdwatching beginners. Well behaved dogs are also welcome to come along but they must be kept on a lead at all times. If you have binoculars please bring them along but don’t worry if not as we’ll have our scope for you to look through.
For this walk we will be meeting at the entrance to Hoo Flats at the very end of Vicarage Lane to start the walk at 11.00am. We will walk onto Hoo Flats follow the England Coast Path along the sea wall towards Kingsnorth, checking out the birds and other wildlife using the estuary and the marshes inland on the way. The duration of the walk is approximately 2 hours with plenty of time to stop and observe any wildlife we spot. The walk is flat and but the paths can be muddy if it has been raining.
It is free to attend our walks but places are limited so please use the registration button to book your free place. We ask for your contact details when you book so we can let you know if anything changes on the day. Walks will go ahead if it is raining but may be cancelled if amber weather warnings are issued. Please note there are no toilet facilities on the walk, the closest public toilets and refreshments are in Hoo village.
